Information and knowledge are key pillars of organizational performance, excellence, competitiveness, growth, innovation and client satisfaction. Information management is concerned with the lifecycle of information while knowledge management deals with harnessing the intellectual capital owned by individuals in an organization in terms of their know-how, expertise, competencies and experiences. The Department offers academic programmes in information studies through an inter-disciplinary approach with specializations in knowledge management; library and information studies; archives and records management; as well as publishing and media studies.

Knowledge management will prepare trainees to assist organisation discover and manage tacit, explicit and embedded knowledge management mapping and audits advise on relevant and suitable information and communication technologies for knowledge management and develop knowledge management strategies for organisations. The graduates will be expected to contribute to improving ethics and standards.
